About the Event
When Jason Thompson first began serving at Portland Fellowship, for a believer, the message regarding homosexuality and identity was a bit simpler. For the most part, the Christian message was that we were created male and female, that our identity is found in Christ alone, and that sexual expression outside of marriage (between a man and his wife) is a sin, because it violates God's perfect plan and ultimately leads to pain and destruction.
As the years passed by, and culture, unsurprisingly, continued down a path of confusion and distortion, Jason watched many in the church also fall into that confusion. To bring clarity to this confusing issue, he created this one-page handout to bring clarity, which he will summarize and explain during Path of Life's Friends & Family Group.
About Our Speaker: Â In 1989, at the age of 19, Jason Thompson approached a crossroads in his young life --what to do with his unwanted same-sex feelings. Relying on his Christian upbringing, he made the life-changing decision to follow God's word and sought help to overcome his struggle and walk in freedom. His search led him to Portland Fellowship, a Christ-centered ministry to those who desire change from sexual brokenness. Through biblical discipleship and loving support, Jason found the freedom he was seeking and now serves as Executive Director for Portland Fellowship. Â He graduated from Multnomah Bible College in Portland, Oregon, and holds a Masters Degree in Counseling from Western Seminary and is an ordained minister through the church.
